My family and I were walking to a temple and these 3 kids started asking us for money. This is a fairly common occurrence, and what most people (including myself) do is ignore them until they go away. While this might seem cruel, it’s the easiest option just because of the sheer number of beggars in the country. Also, you can never be sure that the money which you hope will be used for food...

The first thing you notice about India is the smell. It’s similar to the odor a mixture of sewage and public restrooms might produce. Obviously, it’s not the nicest aroma, but you become desensitized to it after a few days. It’s somewhat disorienting when I return to the states and realize the smell which I had grown to ignore is completely gone.
